Does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes?

Hiya book friends!

Someone used this greeting on an email to me today, so I’m going to borrow it: I hope this newsletter finds you well and ready to vote.

Things are quiet here - I’m (mostly) between deadlines, and just chipping away at various projects and books. The weather has finally turned colder here in Virginia, and I’m (mostly) loving it.

I spent last weekend on a Girls Gone Mild weekend with some dear friends from college and it was exactly what my heart needed.

We’ll probably be on the shorter side than usual with this newsletter, but I’ll be back yapping your ears (eyes?) off about something before you know it.

Books Still on My TBR

I know, I know - how can I recommend a book that’s still on my TBR? Well, I suppose I can’t. But I’m very susceptible to peer pressure, so if you read one, and tell me I have to enough, I’ll probably read it. 😂

Also there are some books on here that I know are going to get impassioned responses from some people, so if you fall into that category, use that reply button and let me know.

Writing Corner

The Writing Project portion of my MFA semester comes to a close on November 1st, and that graduation date/deadline for a fully revised manuscript creeps closer and closer. I’m really happy with the way it’s coming together so far and can’t wait to see where else the story takes me.

Spotify Playlist

I wasn’t a big 1D girlie - I was just a few years out of their target demographic when they were coming up, but like most of us who listen to Top 40 radio and keep up with pop culture, I know of their impact. Liam Payne’s unexpected passing has had an impact on a lot of people, and I’ve found myself listening to One Direction’s music over the past few days. Just a sign of their impact - I was shocked how many songs I knew all the words to, just from the radio, life, etc. So this week’s playlist is the This is One Direction playlist from Spotify.

New Release Spotlight

I met Erin at Romance Con in Milwaukee last month, and we realized we were releasing political-setting romances close together, so I’m excited to share her newest book with you.

The Thorne at My Side is all your favorite enemies-to-lovers stories rolled into one. If You’ve Got Mail and The American President get covered in Spicy Book Sauce.

Where to See Rachel

Pre-order links for all signings can be found on the Events page of my website.

2024: I’m also headed to Toledo in November to participate in the Toledo Library’s first ever Romance-Con! Tickets are still available for some of their headlining author talks. Access to the rest of the Con, including other panels and workshops (one from yours truly!) are free and will be first-come, first-serve.

I’ll also be at the Old Town Book Fair on November 9th. Coffee cart AND a Bubbly bar? What more could you want?!

I teased this before, but I actually have two more local/semi-local events after these before the end of the year. I’ll share info about those two just as soon as I’m able!

2025: Confirmations for 2025 events are coming in hot! I’m so excited to visit new places and see new faces next year! Tickets for Lust in the City Virginia Beach can be purchased here! Tickets for Romantically Yours Book Con are on sale now. Love & Tech tickets on sale November 1! Apollycon ticket information can be found within the Apollycon Attendee Facebook group.

Affirmation

It’s shaping up to be a tumultuous few weeks here in the US. In that vein, I decided we needed more than one affirmation for the week.

Was that actually shorter than usual? Lol, who can tell. See you all in November.

Romantically Yours,

Rachel
