Happy June!
This month, it's not "Let me get this straight," but rather, "let me be queer". 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Well, the last time you heard from me, it was April, and I was going to try to send these more regularly. So, now it’s June, and I’m once again, going to try to send these more regularly. 😊
A lot has happened since we talked last! I’m going to try to catch you up over the next few newsletters, so I don’t overwhelm you all at once.
Rachel’s Book news
First - Capitally Engaged, Preston’s book in the Brandt Brother’s series has a cover and a release date!
Preston and Jax will be available on August 29, 2024. I’m finishing up a draft of their story right now and I can’t wait for you to meet them.
Signed paperbacks are available for pre-order on my website, and paperbacks will be available at your favorite indie, B&N and Amazon, as usual, closer to pub day.
Recommendations from June 4th Pub Day
June 4th was an absolutely STACKED publication day in the Romance Genre. Here are some picks that came out on Tuesday that I’m eager to get my hands on (if they didn’t arrive already this week).
If there’s a book that came out this week that I’ve missed that you’re SUPER jazzed about, hit reply and let me know. I want to add it to my shopping list.
Writing Corner
May was a month of writing! This month I:
Wrote a final paper examining The Art of Catching Feelings by Alicia Thompson and examining the elements I could use to improve my MFA Thesis.
Wrote a reflection examining The Bromance Bookclub by Lyssa Kay Adams and examining the male friend group in that book, and how I could improve a possibly similar group in my MFA Thesis
Finished up the first draft of said MFA Thesis. Onto revisions!
Wrote the first 2,500 words of a secret project for next Residency’s writing workshop. I had SO much fun and it tried its hardest to derail my other projects, but I resisted.
Finished up another draft of Capitally Engaged, getting that ready for Y-O-U in August!
It was A LOT of writing. After I turn this draft of CE into my editor, I’m giving myself a week off before I turn back to my Thesis, getting ready for Residency at the end of June!
Spotify Playlist
Have I listened to anything other that the Anthology of the Tortured Poets Department over the past 6 weeks? No, not really. So, here it is, just in case. 😉
Bookish Spotlight
I discovered BookFunnel group promos last month, which I think are a super neat way to discover new or new-to-you books and authors. Some of these books may be on sale, some may be in Kindle Unlimited, some may be full price, but so worth hitting that “Buy Now” button.
Where to See Rachel
Tickets are still available for two events I have coming up in September. You can find tickets here for RomanceCon and Authors in the Steel City.

April brought my first two signing events, which I’ll talk about more in a later newsletter. If you can believe it, I’m already lining up 2025 events, and I think have filled out a form for a 2026 event. (Kelly, if you’re reading this, I swear I’ll make a spreadsheet soon.) I’m so excited to get back on the road and meet more readers!
Affirmation

Found on Temu.com from Asbefohome
I’m off this weekend on a Book Club retreat with eight friends in Minneapolis, MN. We have a 9(!) store bookstore crawl planned for Saturday and lunch reservations at a restaurant called Book Club. Are we being overly ambitious? Who knows. I have a collapsible duffle packed, absolutely prepared to check a bag of clothes on my flight home with Southwest next week.
Would you want to hear more about our retreat in my next newsletter? |
Until next time.
Romantically yours,
Rachel
