As the case May be...

It's time for another newsletter

What’s new with Rachel?

Hi hello! It’s been a little while since I last wrote, and now somehow we’re halfway through May, halfway through the second quarter of the year? It’s gone so fast, and also felt so long…

I’m one assignment (due tonight) away from being finished with my last semester of my MFA! My mentors passed my Thesis earlier this month, so a few more things to take care of and my final residency and graduation will be here before I know it! I told my critique group if I start talking about another academic program or degree, they have my full permission to stage an intervention.

I went to Romancing the Craft East, put on by Steamy Lit at the beginning of May. I want to pull my thoughts together more cohesively to share with you all soon, but it was an amazing opportunity to learn from some pillars of the Romance genre, and celebrate diversity and representation in books. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it.

Writing Corner and Book News

Somehow Capitally Unexpected has been out in the world for over a month? You all rocketed Hunter and Michelle to a record-number of first month page reads, and I’m blown away that everyone continues to love them as much as I do.

If you haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet, I thought I’d share some thoughts of readers - maybe they can convince you. 😉

Don’t forget I have signed copies of these and the rest of my books on my website. I’d be honored to send one your way.

Soon it’ll be time to start talking about and teasing my next project (not a Brandt Brother…) More soon!

These are basically the vibes I want in my life now that it’s nice outside. Time to get on my hot girl walks (at least until the humidity takes over.)

Book Spotlight

Happy to be sharing Khushi T Saha’s Free Fall with you, right after it’s first birthday! This one’s going on my TBR for sure.

It was only supposed to be a little legal advice, and a crash course in the sex department, but what happens when the grumpy lawyer falls for the less-than-experienced-sunny romantic?
Big-shot attorney Aariv Abbas is every woman's dream: hunky as sin, successful, andthatman who puts responsibility, and family duty first (the kind of man every South Asian hopes their son becomes when they grow up). Too bad he's such a grumpy asshole with a one-track mind. And thank God he's only in the market for an Indian wife.

Chrissy Smyth is young, brash, full of hopes, and a head-in-the-clouds dreamer, but a chance encounter with a grumpy lawyer has her realizing that romance isn't for everyone. And she doesn't need to waste her time with nonbelievers like him, no matter how hot or big his … biceps may be.

But when her life takes a major misstep and her family's business gets pulled into a serious Russian crime ring, what's a girl to do but look to the only attorney she knows for advice, Grumpenhunk and all?

And how's the good Indian son supposed to behave when his attraction for a woman who ticks none of the boxes on his life list becomes unmanageable?

A grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, slight age gap, cultural differences, andultrasteamy romance that will make you laugh, cry, want to punch a pillow, and then do a happy dance.
